Following the scientific road
Doing it right
When we at gebioMized do something, we do it right. That was already the case with our first saddle pressure measurement system, which we developed a good 15 years ago. And with our new saddles it’s no different. In the Sleak and in the Area there is pretty much everything combined that we can offer in gebioMized know-how. This is exactly what distinguishes us from other saddle manufacturers: All our competence and experience from the thousands of bike fittings that we carried out in our gebioMized concept-labs went into the design of our first saddle line: among other things, we evaluated 50,000 saddle pressure measurements. And we attached great importance to a very well-balanced group of test persons:
As far as we know, this approach is unique in bicycle saddle design to date.
But that’s not all: before the actual development of Sleak and Area began, we spent several years researching the current status of the saddle market, looking at what existing models there are, what we like well and what we like less. We supplemented this “field excursion” with a two-year study phase in the laboratory. We also founded the Secret Saddle Club, a community of bike fitters, who provided us with valuable input for our saddle line by providing us with their experiences from their daily fitting work, with their ideas, demands and suggestions.
From 3D model to CNC-milled prototype
With all the knowledge, experience and input, a clear picture of what a modern saddle line must look like developed before our inner eye. A saddle line that meets our high demands, those of our bike fitter colleagues and of course also and above all those of the athletes. It was a picture that we transformed into innovative 3D computer models using CAD design. This allowed us to virtually view, check and optimize the designs from all sides before the 3D printer spit out the first samples and finally the prototypes were created using the CNC milling process. In our ready to ride saddles, extensive medical and technical know-how merges with state-of-the-art technology, from the first measurement to the final product.
Teaming up with experienced partners
In order to transfer the high gebioMized quality standards uncompromisingly to our new saddle line, we have brought an experienced partner on board: Sleak and Area were developed in intensive cooperation with Syncros. This enabled us to combine biomechanical expertise and the highest manufacturing quality in a product that is optimal in our opinion.
From theory to practice
And you can feel the difference, also because gebioMized Sleak and Area had to prove whether our theory also works in practice on countless test rides across all performance levels. They passed with flying colors. Among others, some models were ridden in July 2018 during a fairly well-known tour in France and at the World Championships in Innsbruck – with great success. But also amateur cyclists gave us their feedback as test riders. Now all cyclists have the opportunity to try out the result. The saddles are available at selected dealers.
